YUST SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Since 2016, KOWIN Chicago Chapter through Chicago Korean Women’s Foundation (CKFW) has each year awarded nine (9) one thousand ($1,000.00) dollar scholarships to female college students of Korean descent attending YUST, Yanbian University of Science and Technology. YUST was selected as an ideal institution where young Korean-Chinese women struggled to keep their Korean ethnic identity and where our scholarships would make a significant contribution promoting women’s leadership.

Students were chosen for their leadership potentials, good academic standing/potential for future improvements, role model behavior and financial needs. To nurture the scholarship recipients until she graduated, it was decided in prior years to grant returning scholarship recipients with the scholarship unless there was an extraordinary reason disqualifying the returning recipient.
